Foscari Palace

The location is great, in central Venice near the Rialto bridge and directly overlooking the Grand Canal. The hotel is a beautiful old grand building and the rooms are large and quiet.

We were return visitors to the Foscari Palace having enjoyed a stay in 2022. Our expectations were based on our previous experience and the price that we secured for our rooms last week. The hotel building dates back to the 1500s and that should be considered by anyone planning a trip..... it is typical of the area. We arrived at the Foscari in the evening from the train station and were met with a friendly welcome back, prompt check in and our rooms on the 3rd floor were ready for us. Our rooms were clean and of a good size with partial canal views which was nice. Beds were enormous and arranged with crisp, fresh linens. Bathrooms were well equipped and hotel addressed a hot water challenge promptly and successfully. Breakfast is plentiful and typical of hotels of this standard with hot options and continental choices. Service was good on the mornings that we had breakfast. The location of this hotel brought us back.... it is located on Campo S Sofia, adjacent to the Ca D'Oro ATV stop. The hotel sits on the Grand Canal and has magnificent views across to the Rialto Market and along the canal in both directions. The views from the newly restored roof terrace are stunning, particularly in the evening when the buildings are all lit up. Its location is very handy for exploring Cannaregio and it is easy to get about the wider city using the #1 water bus service from the Ca D'Oro stop which is just around the corner. The hotel reception arranged our water taxi back to the airport for us and provided helpful information regarding purchase of tickets etc. Would have no hesitation in returning to the Foscari.

The place exceeded our expectations, but I specifically wanted a view of the Grand Canal. I got a view but you kind of had to look left out the window to see it. It wasn't a straight on view. They do have a rooftop where anyone can go up to to have a glass of wine and get a spectacular view of the Grand Canal and all the island really. The Palace location is the best! You won't be disappointed. Their breakfasts are spectacular.

The overall stay was good. We only stayed 2 nights for New Year and booked last minute but everything went well. The location is perfect to get around Venice and you have a gondola rides right next to the hotel. The room was clean and the beds were nice. Overall my wife and I were happy with our stay.

Location, patio over canal. Courteous staff. Good breakfast. Well maintained.
